July 25th

We wanted to skip the traffic yesterday through Washington, D.C., so we opted for the southern route from Richmond to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. It involved taking the Chesapeake Bay bridge/tunnel which was a bonus also – neither of us had ever traveled on that bridge/tunnel before. It’s quite an engineering marvel and the traffic was definitely lighter than the northern route would have been. Unfortunately, we hit a one-way road section in Maryland and had to wait an extra 20 minutes but it was still much less of a hassle than what we expected going through D.C.

After arriving in Rehoboth Beach, we had worked up a PRetty powerful hunger and thirst, so off we went to “The Crab House” to solve that problem. The crabs were delicious, the beverages were refreshing, and they had fresh sweet corn! I opted for an extra 2 ears instead of the last crab, which Laura graciously consented to finish off for us. For a Maryland girl and a Nebraska guy you can’t get a better meal, in our humble opinions…
